MAGNUSSON PARTNER EVALDAS RAPOLAS NAMED PERSON OF THE YEAR
The award was established to pay tribute to the persons who foster the values that are most significant to the Faculty, thus contributing to the development of the rule of law. The nominees for the title of The Person of the Year were assessed according to such criteria as erudition, collegiality, openness to novelty, ethics, creativity, and interdisciplinarity.
Evaldas Rapolas was nominated for the award for his initiatives addressed to graduate students aimed at educating the young generation. The professional partnership of advocates Magnusson, represented by this lawyer, has employed many graduates of the VMU Faculty of Law. The law firm encourages students’ public activity, contributes to the organisation of scientific events at the Faculty, supports acquisition of legal literature, and has established a scholarship for the best student paid out every year.
“We feel part of the family of Vytautas Magnus University. We are linked by a common approach to life and values. I believe that this particular University develops a person who has a unique attitude to developments that take place around. I am pleasantly surprised by such a high evaluation of my colleagues and I can only say that we are always happy to be able to return at least a tiny part of all this that we have received from our alma mater”, Evaldas Rapolas thanked the University for the award.
During the international conference “Impeccable Reputation of the Lawyer: Theoretical and Practical Aspects”, Evaldas Rapolas was congratulated and solemnly awarded by Prof. Edita Gruodytė, Head of the Public Law Department of the VMU Faculty of Law. When giving the award, Prof. Gruodytė thanked the winner for his impressive and significant deeds and wished him to continue serving as an example to students and graduates seeking a meaningful, honest and honourable career of a lawyer.
Beside Evaldas Rapolas, the nominees for the title of The Person of the Year included Mindaugas Šimonis, Chairman of the Kaunas District Court, for the openness of the court to the academic community; a lawyer Jonas Kairevičius for fostering ethical principles in the lawyer’s practice; and a Member of the Parliament Stasys Šedbaras for the openness to novelty in legal science and studies.
