MAGNUSSON AND F-SECURE HELP BUSINESSES PREPARE FOR GDPR
Magnusson and F-Secure have launched educational project on GDPR (RODO in Polish) in various cities across Poland. The General Data Protection Regulation, a legal instrument adopted at the EU level, will enter into force on May 2018 and apply to all businesses that process personal data. The aim of the new regulation is to safeguard information, protect the right to privacy, and regulate the digital market.
As part of their cooperation, Magnusson and F-Secure conduct joint workshops and conferences aiming to supply entrepreneurs with information regarding preparation for the new EU regulation. Additionally, the team performs comprehensive audits of companies. This consists of legal and technological analyses prepared by Magnusson and F-Secure, respectively.
Magdalena Baraniewska, F-Secure: “We have teamed up with Magnusson because we know how important it is to ensure cybersecurity in compliance with the new legal regulations. The fallout after the Petya and WannaCry attacks this year shows how much work remains to be done in order to ensure the complete security and safety of personal data. We believe that together we will help raise awareness within organisations of GDPR-related changes in the legal and IT sphere.”
Noncompliance with GDPR carries the risk of incurring civil-law and administrative liability, as well as doing damage to one’s reputation. The responsibility for implementing the new regulations in an organisation rests with its IT and legal departments.
What does this mean in practice?
In failing to ensure compliance with the new EU requirements, businesses will risk steep administrative penalties, as well as procedural conflicts and hindrances in everyday cooperation with other business entities.
Agnieszka Pytlas, advocate and Managing Partner at Magnusson Warsaw: “Compliance with the requirements and timely implementation of necessary changes may improve a business reputation and give it a competitive advantage. We are delighted to team up with F-Secure. This combination of legal and technological knowledge allows us to present the complete picture of the influence of GDPR on the future of business.”
The General Data Protection Regulation enters into force on 25 May 2018.

SHORT-TERM LEGAL CONSEQUENCES OF A 'NO-DEAL' BREXIT
Judged on the current political situation in the UK, where the parliament is split between various Brexit models and apparently unable to form a political majority for one specific ‘soft’ Brexit model as well as on the announcements from the EU that the EU is not willing to renegotiate the draft Brexit deal, which was turned down by the Houses of Parliament, the likelihood of a hard Brexit has become higher than ever.read more
