Happy days at Magnusson in Copenhagen – recruitments and appointments

2019-08-16

New colleagues join Magnusson Copenhagen

First, Julie Jeppesen, has been employed as an associate in our employment team. Julie comes from a
position with Finansforbundet (the Danish Financial Services Union).

Staying on the topic of employment law, we are happy to announce the promotion of Tom Froberg to
partner and new Head of Employment. Tom joined us last fall (October 2018) after a 25-year stint as
general counsel with various Danish blue chips, and his vast experience with handling complex employment
matters in-house makes him the perfect candidate to take the responsibility for this important area - where
we first greet so many of our new international clients. Tom will continue to work also with
corporate/commercial matters. Tom says, “I look forward to taking on the role leading on employment
work for Magnusson in Copenhagen, and to bolster the collaboration between our offices. Businesses rely
more and more on attracting and retaining talent, and employment is nowadays an integrated part of
corporate/commercial advice.”

Building on our focus on hiring people with in-house counsel experience we welcome also Annelise Lykke
Schmidt as Legal Director. Annelise comes from an in-house position with Vestas and has previous
experience also from Rockwool and other big Danish and International companies. Annelise works with
complex commercial matters, including export control & sanctions, IPR, Business Ethics and commercial
contracts. Annelise has joined our corporate/commercial team. Annelise has already started with
Magnusson and says: “In my discussions with Magnusson I can see that they share my focus on delivering
quality advice on complex regulatory matters, and following the advice all the way through. Joining my
expertise in implementing governance policies with Magnusson’s ability to service high-end clients I can see
an ocean of opportunities ahead of us.”

Additionally, we welcome also Uwe Rasmussen as Legal Director. Uwe is an expert adviser within complex
IT contracts, GDPR and technology litigation. Uwe will continue to split his time between his office base in
Paris and Denmark. Uwe is also a qualified French attorney, and adds an ability for Magnusson to advise on
French legal matters, including corporate establishment, employment and commercial contracts.
Magnusson Copenhagen will in the months to come set up a French Desk.
Copenhagen Managing Partner, Nikolaj Juhl Hansen, says: ”I am so happy to see such a vast amount of
quality talent arrive at Magnusson Copenhagen. We continue to attract high-end domestic and
international high-end clients, especially on cross-border assignments on our home-turf in the Baltic Sea
region - and we can see a clear demand from clients to work with highly skilled lawyers. We are reinforced
in our belief that attracting people who have served in internationally focused in-house counsel roles “on
the other side of the table” serves us well in our ability to provide “best in class” and to the point legal
counselling to our clients.
Equity partner Co-Head of Magnusson Copenhagen’s Corporate/M&A team, Sam Jalaei, adds: “Annelise
and Uwe are great additions to our team. Our employment team will flourish in Tom’s capable hands and
benefit from Julie’s experience. I have high confidence in our team and look forward to servicing our
domestic and international clients across our great firm and continue contributing to the development of
Magnusson.”

Magnusson International Chairman Tomi Merenheimo adds: “I am really pleased to see that the
Copenhagen office adds additional quality staff resources. Magnusson needs strong offices with people that
understand international business at every destination and with the new appointments and recruitments
Copenhagen has done well to bolster its practice, for the benefit of all Magnusson offices. I look forward to
working with our new Danish colleagues.”
